Designing Active Construction Sediment Settling Ponds

Speaker: Wesley Sluga, EIT, Stormwater Technical Assistance, Ohio EPA Division of Surface Water

This webinar will explore the technical design requirements and recommendations for sediment settling basins including proper skimmer sizing, how skimmer outlet inverts control the size of the dewatering zone, the length to width flow path ratio requirement for inlets to outlets, and common compliance and plan review issues. Available Ohio EPA guidance and tools for Sediment Basin Compliance will be reviewed and discussed.

The webinar will be applicable to designers and plan reviewers as well as developers, contractors, and individuals interested to learn about achieving a compliant sediment settling basin that works to protect water quality.
